Charles “Chuck” E. Ferebee Jr., of Yorktown, died peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2015.

He was the son of Charles and Phyllis Ferebee. Chuck was brought up as a military brat, a life that took him to Japan, the Philippines and many state-side locations.

Having a desire to follow his dad in a military career, he attended the U.S. Military Academy for three years with the intention of becoming a chaplain assistant with the U.S. Air Force.

After completion of one tour he returned to the civilian life to join the family business for the next five years. He later went to work for the city of Hampton and retired after 21 years. After retirement he worked as a cargo carrier until his death.

He is survived by his parents, Charles and Phyllis Ferebee; a daughter, Amanda (Denver), of Sandy Ridge, North Carolina; a son, Charles, of Virginia; and a sister, Crystal (Alex), of Herndon.

A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Yorktown Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dean Meyer. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Peninsula Rescue Mission, 3700 Huntington Ave., Newport News, VA 23607.
