Pipe installation near the area of Cook Road and Old York-Hampton Highway will close the road for a total of about two and half weeks.
Crews will be installing pipeline to convey stormwater to the new wetlands being created at the intersection of Cook Road and Old York-Hampton Highway.
As a result, Old York-Hampton Highway will be closed to thru traffic beginning Monday between Cook and Falcon roads. That closure is expected to last three days.
On May 8, Cook Road will be closed between Old York-Hampton Highway and Falcon Road for about two weeks.
For all of the closures, signs will be in place to show detours and direct drivers to use Falcon Road.
Weather conditions may affect the timing of the pipe installation and road closures.
People driving through York County will also see nighttime single lane closures on Route 17 between Wolf Trap Road and Hampton Highway as crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation work to widen the highway to six lanes.
The closures will occur from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. between May 3 and 9.
