Mary Margaret Bazzurro Bryan, 92, shared joy of life, devotion to helping others

Mary Margaret Bazzurro Bryan, of Yorktown, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, surrounded by family and friends. She was 92.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Giuliana (DeMartini) Bazzurro, of New York City and her brother, Eddie Bazzurro.

Left to remember the great times are her husband of 69 years, Robert “Bob” Bryan; her younger sister, Alma Bazzurro White; son, Jeffrey Bryan (Pam), of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter, Julie Ann Bradbury (Chuck), of Yorktown; and son, Gary Bryan, of Chicago. She was greatly loved by her grandchildren, Jennifer Warnack (Bret), Chad Bryan and Patrick Bryan, of Texas, Erin, Eric and Elissa Bradbury, of New York City, San Francisco and Washington, respectively and Sean Bryan, of Illinois and great-grandchildren, Brynn and Bryce Warnack and Karsen and Hayden Bryan.

Mary was born on Dec. 19, 1922, in Lorsica, Italy and grew up in New York City. She met Bob at a dance during WWII in Manhattan, New York and the two were married in December 1945. They raised their family throughout the Midwest in Illinois and Nebraska before moving to Virginia to be near family.

Everywhere Mary went, she shared her joy of life, her love of family, her devotion and servant-heart in helping others and her love of animals. Her friends fondly remember her generous spirit, beautiful sense of style and fashion, enjoyment of golf and bridge and service to her Lord Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.

A funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 315 Harris Grove Lane, Yorktown, VA 23692.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Peninsula SPCA, 523 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.
