Boys Tennis Roundup: Jamestown Knocks Off Previously Unbeaten York

Undefeated Jamestown and York went head-to-head Wednesday at York High with the Eagles coming out on top by a final of 8-1.

Jamestown took five of six singles matches, though York’s No. 1 Josh McFadden knocked off Jamestown’s No. 1 Grayson DeBerry in a third-set tiebreaker.

Jamestown moves to 7-0 on the season with the win, taking on Warhill at home Tuesday.

Meanwhile, York drops to 7-1 on the season with a chance to rebound on the road against Tabb on Tuesday.

Grafton Defeats Warhill

Grafton’s (6-3) boys tennis team handed Warhill a 7-2 road defeat Wednesday.

Warhill (4-4) had a fighting chance after the conclusion of the singles matches, trailing 4-2. However, Grafton shut down hopes of a comeback by dominating the three doubles matches.

Grafton will face a road test against Bruton on Tuesday, while Warhill will visit Jamestown on Tuesday.

Tabb Sweeps Bruton

Tabb’s (5-3) boys tennis team made quick work of Bruton (1-10), defeating the Panthers 9-0 at home on Wednesday.

The most competitive match of the contest came in the No. 6 singles, with Tabb’s Daniel Drees pulling out the 10-5 tiebreaker.

Tabb will visit York at 4 p.m. Tuesday, while Bruton will hope to rebound at home against Grafton on Tuesday.
