Close the book on one midtown store’s run in the Williamsburg Shopping Center.

Books-a-Million closed its doors on the franchise located in the Richmond Road shopping center.

Workmen were active Monday moving the remaining merchandise out of the store and into transport trucks.

A sign taped to the front door indicated the store had shut down, but did not provide a reason for the closing.

“We apologize for the inconvenience,” the sign read. “It was truly a pleasure serving the community for all these years. We hope to relocate and offer our services again.”

It was not immediately clear how many employees would be affected by the closing.

Calls to Book-a-Million headquarters in Birmingham, Ala., were not immediately returned.

Books-a-Million is the second-largest book retailer in the U.S., operating more than 200 locations, primarily in the South, Midwest and Northeast.
