Jamestown Boys, Girls Track Teams Notch Top Individual Finishes at Real Deal High School Classic

The Jamestown track and field team saw boys and girls success during the Real Deal High School Classic on Saturday.

Jamestown’s girls and boys teams finished 11th and 17th overall, respectively during the meet, which was held at Todd Stadium in Newport News.

Junior Kathleen Yates had the best finish of any Jamestown athlete, earning second in the girls 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:34.18.

Jamestown senior Jordan Gravelle took third in the girls 400-meter dash, just missing a sub-one minute time with a time of 1:00.69.

The girls 4×800 relay team finished fifth in a time of 10:56.21, which was good for four team points.

In the boys division, Jordan Willis finished fourth in the long jump, leaping 20 feet, 2 1/2 inches. Willis also logged a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.32.

Cameron Coates logged fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:05.55, holding off sixth place by three-hundredths of a second.
