Girls Tennis Roundup: Jamestown Tops Lafayette

The Jamestown (5-1) girls tennis team got a respectable challenge from Lafayette (5-2) on the road Tuesday.

Jamestown overcame two singles losses to take the match 6-3.

The Eagles will take on Bruton at home 3 p.m. Thursday, while Lafayette will travel to take on York at 4 p.m. Monday.

Grafton Falls Just Short of Upset Bid

Grafton (3-3) came up a match short from upsetting Smithfield (7-1) on the road Tuesday, falling 5-4.

With both teams tied 3-3 after singles, Smithfield took the top two doubles matches to secure the win.

Grafton will visit Tabb at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Tabb Edges New Kent

Tabb’s girls tennis team edged out New Kent for a 5-4 road victory Tuesday.

The win moves the Tigers to 3-3 on the season with their next game coming at home against Warhill at 4 p.m. Thursday.

York Sweeps Bruton

The York (5-0) girls tennis team made quick work of Bruton (2-5) Tuesday, topping the Panthers 9-0.

York will host Grafton at 4 p.m. Thursday, while Bruton visits Jamestown at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Poquoson Defeats Warhill

Warhill dropped a tough home match 7-2 against Poquoson Tuesday.

The Lions drop to 1-5 on the season with the loss and will look to snap their five-game losing skid against Tabb 4 p.m. Thursday.
