Ernest Lewis Dobson, of Williamsburg, died April 9, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 72.
He was born son of the late Samuel P. Dobson and Elizabeth Dobson. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal savior and joined Parish Hill Baptist Church. Ernest Dobson was also preceded in death by Johnny Dobson, Ben Dobson, Lucy Byrd and Shantel Deneen Dobson.
At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal savior and joined Parrish Hill Baptist Church. Ernest was a devoted member of Parrish Hill Baptist Church. He was a member of E. Walter Anderson Singers. He loved and enjoyed singing for God. Ernest was employed, by Charles City Forest Products, Inc. as a forklift operator for many years.
Ernest was a kind and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. God has truly blessed us with a wonderful person for 72 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The sorrow we feel in our hearts cannot be expressed by words. We have faith in God that we will meet him again, in a place where pain and sorrow will be no more.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife of 50 years, Bernice Marie Dobson; his sons, Ernest Dobson Jr. (Carla), Calvin Dobson (Althea), Dennis Dobson and David Dobson; his daughters, Linda Vincent (Lewis), Gail Jenerette (Chris) and Tasha Dobson (Clifton); his sister, Purcell Dobson; his brother, Samuel Dobson Jr.; his 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Mr. Dobson may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015, at Parrish Hill Baptist Church, 12401 John Tyler Memorial Hwy., Charles City, VA 23030, with the Rev. E. Walter Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Dobson Family Cemetery.
