NavigatorsChris Ciccone scored a first-quarter goal during Hampton Roads Academy’s 15-1 loss against Covenant on Tuesday.

Covenant jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead before Ciccone found the back of the net unassisted and cut the deficit in half.

Trailing 4-1 after the first quarter, the Navigators had scoring opportunities but could not capitalize on them.

“We had six or seven shots that if we put a bounce on the ground or on goal, they would go in,” Hampton Roads Academy Coach Quinn McMahon said. “We had the looks but we couldn’t finish.”

Despite recording 16 saves in the game, Hampton Roads Academy (0-4, 0-2 TCIS) goalkeeper James Hicks faced a barrage of shots from Covenant.

The Navigators trailed 8-1 at halftime.

Covenant would not relinquish their lead. The Eagles scored five goals in the third quarter and called off the dogs in the fourth quarter.

Hampton Roads Academy will play a road game against Steward today at 4:30 p.m.
