Jordan Gravelle took home two gold medals for the Jamestown girls indoor track and field team during the 31st annual Captain’s Classic at Christopher Newport University held Friday and Saturday.
Two area schools – Jamestown and Walsingham Academy – competed in the Silver Division, which is reserved for Group 4A schools and below, as well as private Virginia schools.
In the girls competition, Jamestown finished in second place with 83 points, while Walsingham Academy took fifth place with 53 points.
Gravelle’s wins in the 200- and 400-meter dashes were the only individual first-place finishes from Historic Triangle female athletes during the meet.
Jamestown’s Afrikka Abdul-Haqq finished second in the 100-meter hurdles and third in the 300-meter hurdles. Her teammate, Lauren Cooke, also earned a second-place finish with Cooke’s coming in the 100-meter dash.
