A daylong expo geared toward home-based businesses in York County is in the works.
The York County Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Authority are piecing together a forum that will offer advice, resources and information on how to thrive as a home-based business in the county.
Tim Meyer, president of the chamber, got the idea several months ago after realizing nearly two-thirds of York County’s businesses are home-based.
“We really feel that it’s been an underserved market for a while and we need to step up and start really working towards helping those home-based businesses as much as we can,” Meyer said.
The forum, tentatively scheduled for October, will offer tips on marketing, bookkeeping, real estate, grants, networking, publicity, financials and more, with presentations from local and regional professionals.
Meyer said the morning will be spent in informational sessions, and then business owners will have a chance to showcase their work during an event similar to a trade show.
The chamber and the EDA are currently working out specifics of the event such as location, time and sponsors.
