A resident at a Williamsburg psychiatric care hospital is facing felony charges after police say he choked another resident March 26.
Chad Chandler Neblett, a 36-year-old man currently living at the Pavilion at Williamsburg Place on Mooretown Road, injured a 44-year-old female resident who told hospital staff he had inappropriately touched her, according to a James City County Police report.
Neblett, who is from Richmond, choked the woman, leaving her with red marks and swelling on her neck, the police report said.
He told officers he “choked her with the intent of killing her,” Stephanie Williams with the James City County Police Department said.
The woman was transported to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center for her injuries.
Neblett was charged with felony attempted murder, felony strangulation, misdemeanor assault and battery and misdemeanor disorderly conduct on hospital grounds.
He will appear in Williamsburg-James City County General District Court for a hearing at 8 a.m. April 23.
