The Lafayette girls tennis team cruised to an 8-1 road win against Bruton on Tuesday.

The Bruton Panthers scored a doubles win as the No. 1 pairing of Sasha Morris and Leanne Troutman bested Lafayette’s duo of Tawni Hatcher and Abby Johnson.

The lost doubles match marks the first time Lafayette has lost a match this season.

The Rams will host Grafton at 4 p.m. Thursday, while Bruton will travel to play Poquoson that day at the same time.

Tabb’s (0-1) girls tennis team lost a narrow 5-4 match to Poquoson at home Tuesday.

Julie Hwang and Lorana Piron earned singles wins for Tabb. In doubles, Mary Katherine Galoozis and Hwang earned a tight 9-8 win, while Piron and Abigail Adcox won in the No. 3 slot.

The Tigers will play on the road against Smithfield at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Jamestown Easily Defeats Grafton

The Jamestown Eagles cruised to an easy 8-1 victory over the Grafton Clippers on the road Tuesday.

The lone Grafton player to score a win was senior Alex Dixon, who defeated Katie Hunt in the No. 2 singles match.

The Eagles (1-0) will play New Kent at Kiwanis Park at 3 p.m. Thursday, while Grafton (2-1) will travel to play Lafayette at 4 p.m.

The Warhill girls tennis team was unable to find traction during Tuesday’s home match against Smithfield.

The Lions’ most competitive match game in No. 1 singles as Sasha Strakhova took her match into a tiebreaker in the third set.

Warhill (1-2) will continue its season at 4 p.m. Thursday on the road against York.
