Williamsburg Notebook: Real Estate Bills Due; City Offices Close for Memorial Day

The City of Williamsburg real estate taxes are due this week. City offices will close for Memorial Day, and residents are able to take advantage of a statewide Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday.

Real Estate Bills Due

City residents’ real estate taxes for the period of Jan. 1 through June 20 are due Saturday. The bills were mailed April, but those who do not have a mortgage company or did not receive a bill by the end of April should call 757-220-6185.

City Closures for Memorial Day

  • City offices – Closed
  • Quarterpath Recreation Center – Closed
  • Refuse and recycling collections will operate on their regular schedules
  • Waller Mill Park will operate on its regular schedule

Prepare for Hurricanes, Save on Taxes

Williamsburg officials are urging residents to take advantage of Virginia’s Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, which started Saturday and ends Friday.

Those who purchase products such as flashlights, smoke detectors and first-aid kits during that week will not have to pay the 5 percent sales tax for the items. The sales tax is waived for items $60 or less.
