The College of William and Mary’s Board of Visitors named a 1985 graduate, and former Tribe offensive lineman, the next rector following a unanimous vote.
Todd Stottlemyer, who has served as the chairman of financial affairs for the past two years, will succeed Jeffrey Trammell, a 1973 alumnus, as the board’s rector, effective July 1. The rector serves as the chairman of the board.
Trammell announced he would be stepping down from the Board of Visitors, which is the governing body of the college, at the end of his second term this summer.
In last week’s meeting, Stottlemyer joined the college’s vice president of finance, Sam Jones, in presenting the landmark plan for four-year guaranteed tuition rates for in-state undergraduate students.
Stottlemyer is the chief executive officer of Acentia, a management and technology company in Northern Virginia.
“We are enormously fortunate to have a Todd Stottlmyer as our next rector,” said President Taylor Reveley in a statement. “Todd, Bob Scott and Tom Frantz have all proven themselves invaluable members of the Board who care deeply about the future of the university. I look forward very much to working with them.”
Robert Scott (’68) will succeed Charles Banks III as vice rector. Thomas Frantz (’70) will serve as secretary.
