Scott Boyle, a James City County resident and Domino’s Pizza franchise owner, is the star of Domino’s latest commercial about the fan-favorite carryout special.
“I started with Domino’s as a kid in high school in 1986 and just worked my way up into management and then into upper management with the franchise that I worked for,” Boyle said.
Boyle owns three Domino’s locations in Williamsburg, two in Newport News and two south of Richmond.
The commercial will advertise Domino’s adding Thursdays to its weekly carryout deal that offers a large, three-topping pizza for $7.99. Previously, the offer was available Monday through Wednesday.
“I don’t know how they chose me,” Boyle said, who added he has starred in two other Domino’s commercials.
Patrick Doyle, Domino’s chief executive officer, co-stars in the new commercial with Boyle.
“While Scott and I light-heartedly argue during the ad, we certainly agree on the fact that customers deserve a lot of pizza at a terrific value – and that is what the carryout special is all about,” Doyle said.
“All jokes with Patrick aside, the great thing about the carryout special is that it brings people into our stores, to see our terrific team members at work doing what they do best,” Boyle added.
Boyle said at one point during filming, he was sitting in a chair looking at the sky and wondering how actors can be on film day in and day out. He said it’s hard work; he spent about 12 hours recording for the 30-second commercial.
“It’s a little bit nerve-racking at first … all that kind of goes away, you get used to it. It turns out to be fun although hard work,” Boyle said.
