Hurricane Sandy Update for Colonial Williamsburg is your source for free news and information in Williamsburg, James City & York Counties.

Colonial Williamsburg (UPDATED 1:45 p.m. Monday):

The Historic Area, art museums, Visitor Center, retail stores, taverns, and Golden Horseshoe Golf Club will be closed on Monday. All evening programs are canceled. There will be no bus service. The Williamsburg Inn, Williamsburg Lodge, Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel and Suites and the Spa of Colonial Williamsburg remain open Monday. In case of a power outage, the Williamsburg Lodge Traditions restaurant will continue to serve a menu of hot food. The Williamsburg Inn and Woodlands will have limited meal service.

On Tuesday, The Historic Area, Visitor Center and Golden Horseshoe Golf Club will remain closed to ensure the safety of our guests and to allow our operations team time to assess storm damage and manage clean-up.  CW buses again will not be running. Weather and power permitting, several select locations will open at noon for the benefit of our guests. These openings include:

  • The Art Museums (with the exception of Bassett Hall) will be open from 12-5 p with complimentary admission.  The museum store and the museum café will also be open;
  • Colonial Williamsburg-operated  stores in Merchants Square including Craft House, Williamsburg at Home, Celebrations and Everything Williamsburg will open from 12-5;
  • Shields Tavern will serve  dinner, and all guests with existing tavern reservations will be accommodated at Shields;
  • The Kimball Theatre in Merchants Square will open at 4:30 for the 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. showings of the movie Headshot.
